Meet The (BBC) Guy!
As part of the Anglais Monde Contemporain (AMC) specialty programme, our students attended a journalism masterclass led by Guy Hedgecoe, a TV, radio and print journalist who reports on Spain for the BBC, The Irish Times and other media. He has been in Madrid since 2003. Previously he was a correspondent in Ecuador, where he reported for outlets that included the Financial Times and CNN.
The session was offered to several Première groups and to our two Terminale AMC groups, and was linked to the themes "Breaking the news and getting informed", as well as "Living together" and “Global relations”.
Guy Hedgecoe introduced our students to the fundamentals of journalism, explaining what the latter is, how it developed, and the crucial difference between news and opinion in mainstream media. He also highlighted the impact of the internet on journalism and its economic and ethical challenges.
He focused on the importance of informing the public and holding those in power to account, illustrating his points with concrete examples from BBC investigations. Issues such as fake news, fact-checking, credibility, and the pressures faced by journalists today were also discussed.
Drawing on his personal experience as a correspondent in Spain and South America, Guy Hedgecoe shared real-life reporting stories that greatly captured students’ attention. They showed strong interest, asked numerous questions and actively participated.
This masterclass was a valuable and inspiring experience that helped students better understand the role of journalism in today’s societies while strengthening the objectives of the AMC curriculum.

"Death by Haircut": a hilarious and lively show for our "cinquième pupils"
The Lycee Français théâtre was recently buzzing with excitement and laughter as cinquième students were treated to a performance of "Death by Haircut" by the renowned English-speaking theatre company, Face2Face. The play was an absolute hit, delivering a perfect blend of comedy, energy, and engagement that left the students thoroughly entertained.
The show was specifically tailored for the linguistic and cultural understanding of the students, making the English dialogue accessible and entertaining. It was clear that they had a great time. Their reactions—a steady stream of giggles, bursts of applause, and enthusiastic participation in the interactive elements—were a proof of the play's success.
Face2Face's play "Death by Haircut" is a modern remake of the classic Sweeney Todd story, combined with a detective mystery.
Time Capsule Burial: saying goodbye to our past selves
On Wednesday, 26th November, the 3A and 3B buried their time capsule at the LFM-Conde de Orgaz. It contains letters to their future selves, their hopes, promises and fears, some pictures and keepsakes.
They will meet again in June 2029 to unbury and embrace their past selves.
The capsule’s plate bears the following message:
Do not open before June 2029!
3A & 3B, our past lies beneath, waiting to be rediscovered.
Dreams and memories sealed in a box, proof that we care to remember.
Sealed in November 2025
Some students prepared a speech to mark this solemn occasion:
Today, 26 November 2025 is a remarkable day for us, class of 3A and B, as we bury our time capsules.
This is not just a box full of useless objects, this is a box carrying thoughts, dreams, stories and beautiful memories shared with our friends at school.
It holds a part of who we are today, and who we dream of becoming tomorrow.
The moment we bury it underground, time halts under our feet while we continue living, growing and moving forward.
Not only are we burying a box but also a part of our childhood goes with it, as we enter into a new stage of our lives.
In a few years’ time, when we unearth it, this box will bring back to life all the wonderful memories of our past. Emotions are sure to run high during this reunion.

Today we’re going to bury our memories, our dreams and our secrets. We are burying our, the box where our letters, our pictures and ‘’ourselves’’ belong. Today we are leaving our past behind. Tomorrow will be a new day and we will be a new person. We will grow, and in 2029 we will come back. We will be a different person. We will unbury past selves and some of us will maybe think they glow up while the others will be proud of who they were, of who they are. That's why we are doing this: to some day, remember how time was in 2024.

Students explore the traditions of Thanksgiving
This year, the LFM marked the celebration of Thanksgiving on November 27th with a special meal that included traditional Autumn food. The CM1 and CM2 students completed a series of activities and decorations around Thanksgiving; the first Thanksgiving meal in the USA and how it is celebrated today. They also learnt how to express their gratitude on such an occasion and also studied the traditional dishes served for Thanksgiving.

The Voice Kids auf Deutsch
Les germanistes de 309 et 310 participent depuis quelques semaines au projet « The Voice Kids auf Deutsch ».
Ils ont mobilisé techniques vocales et corporelles au service d’un projet d’interprétation musicale : chaque groupe candidat apprend une chanson d’un groupe ou d’un chanteur allemand ou autrichien, et participe à de nombreuses répétions face à un jury. Ces répétitions furent l’occasion d’interagir en allemand avec le jury, et de pratiquer la langue étudiée dans un contexte plus ludique.
Ils ont conçu 
également les affiches du concert final qui aura lieu mardi 02 décembre à 15h.

[VIDÉO] Les propositions des élèves germanistes pour la journée nationale de lutte contre le harcèlement à l'école
L'année dernière, leurs camarades avaient mis en scène et interprété une pièce de théâtre sur le harcèlement à l'école. Une belle réussite qui les avait menés à l'Institut Goethe !
Les élèves de première de Madame Gallien ont relevé cette année un tout autre défi : écrire eux-mêmes des petites pièces de théâtre. Des prestations intéressantes qu'ils ont eu plaisir à partager et qui rendent bien compte de leur engagement, de leur créativité et de leurs compétences linguistiques !
🎃 Halloween Spirit at School!
This year, from Kindergarten to 5th grade, our students have been fully immersed in the Halloween spirit for the past two weeks!
Through creative, scientific, and linguistic activities, they’ve learned in the most exciting ways while having lots of fun!
Storytelling
Students explored spooky legends and stories, invented and described witches and wizards of all kinds, and created their own Halloween characters and tales.
Arts and Crafts
They designed jack-o-lanterns and emotional pumpkins (sad, mad, or funky!), made origami and paper ghost sculptures, and produced large poster boards illustrating all sorts of Halloween vocabulary.
Science and Creativity
In science, students discovered skeleton anatomy through fun and hands-on activities connecting art and biology, still in English!
Games and Expression
They also practiced vocabulary while playing Dobble and memory games, and even created cubist Halloween portraits inspired by famous artists.
All these projects were part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary and cross-grade celebration led by the entire Primary English Team.(K-5)
The festivities culminated in a joyful Halloween dance session during recess on the last day of school before the break.

Let the Show Begin! Ateliers théâtre et chant en anglais au collège
Cette année encore, les collégiens (en majorité des élèves de 6º et 5º) ont participé à des ateliers de théâtre et chant en anglais dirigés par Mesdames Belghouj et Boudineau, enseignantes d’anglais au Lycée français.
Ce projet a permis aux élèves de découvrir différents genres musicaux, plusieurs techniques d’interprétation tout en pratiquant de façon ludique leur anglais.
Les élèves se sont produits les 27 mai et 3 juin dernier devant un public d’élèves très enthousiastes de CM2 et de 6emes / 5emes. Ce spectacle a permis aux élèves participants de montrer leur talent et créativité ainsi que le fruit de leur travail de toute une année scolaire.
Dès Septembre, les ateliers reprendront avec beaucoup de nouveautés pour nos futurs 6èmes et collégiens. Nous vous attendons nombreux pour y participer !
[ALLEMAND] Voyage des élèves de seconde 1, 2, 3 et 4 à Strasbourg, capitale européenne, et Fribourg, laboratoire de l'urbanisme durable
. 
Du 3 au 7 mars 2025, 23 élèves de seconde ont fait l'expérience de la mobilité d´abord à Strasbourg, où ils ont visité le parlement européen et fait un jeu de pistes en petits groupes, puis à Fribourg et dans la Forêt noire, où un programme de visites préparé par leur professeur d´allemand Anna Gallien leur a permis de s'intéresser à la culture du pays dont ils apprennent la langue depuis 2 ans.
C´est dans un esprit festif qu´ont commencé les réjouissances avec le défilé du lundi des roses, point d'orgue de la tradition de carnaval alémanique ou Fasnet, avant de passer aux aspects sociaux, économiques, techniques et environnementaux de la transition, avec des excursions guidées et des rallyes autour de l´urbanisme, de la mobilité et de l´énergie.
Pour traiter concrètement, in situ, deux grands axes du programme de langues vivantes de seconde :« ville, village, quartier », et « sauver la planète, penser les futurs possibles », plusieurs temps forts ont été proposés.
[ALLEMAND ] Voyage des terminales à Vienne (Autriche) : un programme riche en découvertes et une belle récompense après 5 ans d'apprentissage de la langue
Découvrez les émissions télévisées des élèves, excellents compte-rendus du voyage d'étude d'une semaine organisé par Anna Gallien et accompagné par Laetitia Chilot, qui avait pour objectif l'étude des stratégies inclusives dans l'espace public.
