On Thursday 29th of February, the class of 1ère Euro Anglais-SES 101-102 simulated a meeting of the European Alliance Assembly on Artificial Intelligence. They had been preparing for this event for several weeks, accompanied by their teachers Mr. Martinez (SES) and Mrs Firth (English).
The students and teachers would like to thank the following people who took the time to visit us at the school and give us their professional insight on AI: Frédéric Alluin (Intelygenz), Nicolas Franco (Mr Houston), Julian Manso (Vertiv), David Requejo (Affirm) and Manel Chikh (MyBubbleHealth). Their contributions were invaluable.
The assembly was divided into 2 commissions:
• The AI ACT COMMISSION´s aim was to prepare for potential risks posed by AI and to make decisions about regulations that should be put in place to ensure the well-being and safety of European Union citizens.
• The AI ECONOMIC PLAN COMMISSION´s goal was to develop an economic strategy to boost innovation
The students each had a role to play, and participated as different actors of the AI controversy in the European Union: trade unions, consumer protection groups, business lobbies, environmentalists, tech lobbies, philosophers, media experts and European deputies.
We addressed several points during the committees and the impact of AI on climate change, jobs, unemployment, health, education, media, and economic policies.
